Preparing for a Cat Show

Tomorrow I’ll be accompanying my brother’s wife to a Cat Show. They have 3 Persian cats and a tabby, but for the Cat Show, only 2 of the Persian cats will be at the Show.

As with any other trips, there are several preparations that need to be made if you intend to send your cat or cats to a Cat Show:

Your Cat:
1.) If you plan to get your cat into any competition, do ensure that your cat is prepared for it.
2.) Cats suitable for shows should be people-friendly and not scared of crowds.
3.) Your cats must be healthy. If your cat is ill, do not bring it to a Cat Show, no matter how much you think it’ll win the Cat Pageant or some other competition. Be kind, bring your cat to the Vet instead.

Traveling with your Cat to the Cat Show:
1.) Do ensure you have a proper pet carrier for your cat.

2.) If you need to stop at a gas station or somewhere, do not leave your cats alone for too long. 5 minutes is maximum.

3.) Bring another person with you to help you with your cat or cats. You can take turns to watch the cats while one of you goes to the bathroom, etc.

Other matters to consider:
1.) There must be food and plenty of fresh water for your cat whilst traveling and at the Cat Show. Do not assume that the Cat Show will provide food and water for your cat. Telephone the organizers and ask if you can.

2.) Make sure you bring your cat’s veterinary certificates or health certs. Some cat shows won’t allow cats to join if they don’t have proof of regular health checks. If you have a pet license or anything like it, bring it along.

Okay, then. I’ll put up some photos and/or videos of the cat show in a few days time.
