Pet Ferrets for Folks Who Like Fun Furry Friends …

Ferrets are great pets to have as they are interesting and very hyperactive. If you want a pet that is not too common like a dog or cat, but not too timid like a rabbit or too small like a hamster, a pet ferret may be the right choice for you.

Ferrets are curious creatures and when awake, they like to exercise by running around the house. They are also quite secretive, they will hide their favorite toys in some nook and cranny of the house. Mind you, a ferret’s favorite toy can be anything - even your socks, shoe or anything they can get a hold on. Ferrets like to hoard stuffs so if you plan to keep a pet ferret, make sure all your valuables are secured and out of reach.

Toilet-training a ferret can be a daunting task and though ferrets can be toilet-trained if you’ve trained them since young, ferrets are most likely to do their ‘business’ anywhere they want! You can use a cat litter box as your pet ferret’s litter box. Do ensure that the litter box is kept in a quiet and comfortable area, away from excessive heat, cold and noise.

Ferrets love to chew on household things so you must be careful to pack away TV or computer cables and wires from electrical appliances. If you have any plants in the house, it’s better to place your plants in places where your ferret can’t reach and chew it. If you have toys or dolls that you love, do put them in a room where your ferret can’t get them. Ferrets are fun to have, but they can also destroy your stuffs if you’re not careful.

If you plan to keep ferrets as pets, do read up on how to train your pet ferret and do ensure that you and your family is ready to accommodate a new and very hyperactive member of the family. :)
